Exchange of Ideas" programs were introduced in 1974, with full weekend programs on current theatre nursing, education or research topics. The "Exchange of Ideas" programs are held in our Zone areas with New South Wales Operating Theatre Association speakers leading the discussions. Initially the New South Wales College of Nursing and the New South Wales Operating Theatre Association combined their resources to present these programs. The Exchange of Ideas program was recognised by the Health Department of New South Wales as a continuing education project. These programs have provided an input of ideas to both city and country members. Our members give their own time to participate at these weekends. The object is to improve the standard of patient care in our operating suites. Conference Days, as they are now referred to, are now conducted and organised by each Zone. Members of the Executive attend and contribute to the educational program as requested by the Zone. An invitation is extended to all perioperative nurses to attend any of these meetings– all you need to do is contact your Zone Executive for details. |

NSW OTA ZONES Click in the box above for the Zone you live in to find the details of your Zone Executive. The New South Wales Operating Theatre Association has gradually grown, enveloping all metropolitan Sydney and spreading to our country areas. Seven zones have been formed outside the Sydney metropolitan area each with their own Executive and have strengthened and enriched our Association, allowing all our members to participate in sharing operating room nursing. |
